Dr Judith A Gurdian obtained a BS from Georgetown University with honors in Applied Linguistics and Spanish. After teaching high school and completing post baccalaureate studies she returned to Georgetown University Medical School completing her M.D. degree and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She then served in the US Air Force at Scott Medical Center in Illinois and Malcom Grow Medical Center in Maryland. At Malcolm Grow she was the medical student and resident coordinator and ran their high risk clinic for 3 years. Dr Gurdian was on faculty at USUHS in Bethesda, MD. After completion of her military service she was an Associate Professor of OB/GYN at Georgetown and opened her practice in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Gurdian is Board Certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the North American Menopause Society. Her particular areas of interest are high risk obstetrics and menopause management, but she enjoys all aspects of her practice of medicine. Dr. Gurdian has privileges at Shady Grove Hospital where she has served as Secretary, Vice-Chair and Chair of the OB/GYN Department. She is now the Chair of Peer Review and serves on the PPEC for the hospital and is a member of the Board of Directors of Capital Women’s Care. She has been listed annually as one of the Top Doctors by the Washingtonian Magazine.
Dr Michelle Spector originally hails from New York State. She received her undergraduate degree from Duke University where she graduated magna cum laude with a double major in biology and psychology. She then attended Washington University for medical school and Emory University for her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. After completing residency Dr. Spector entered the US Air Force and moved to Texas. She was a Staff Physician at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio for 4 1/2 years where she practiced obstetrics and gynecology and was on the teaching faculty for residents. On completion of her military commitment she entered private practice in Austin, Texas, After taking a year off for the birth of her twins Dr. Spector moved to Rockville and entered practice with Dr. Gurdian. Dr Spector enjoys all aspects of practice but has a particular interest in high-risk obstetrics and management of osteoporosis. Dr Spector is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is on staff at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital where she serves as Vice-Chair of the OB/GYN Department.
Patricia E. Shevock, P.A.-C. studied at Millersville State University and graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Clinical Health Services. In 1980 she completed her Physician Assistant training from Hershey Medical Center in PA. She is Board Certified with an additional sub-speciality in Internal Medicine. Mrs. Shevock’s prior experience includes certification in Radiologic Technology, which she utilized at George Washington University Hospital and Arlington Hospital. Before specializing in OB/GYN, Mrs. Shevock worked as a Physician Assistant in family practice for ten years, dealing primarily with women’s health issues. There she supervised in-training medical students. She worked for two years on the medical and surgical floors at Mt. Vernon Hospital in VA. Mrs. Shevock currently has privileges at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.
Melanie Thornton-Huycke, C.N.M. grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. She attended Georgetown University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She was commissioned in the U.S. Army and served for 16 years. She left military service and continued to move about before settling in Arlington Virginia. In 1994 she returned to the Washington area and completed a Master of Science degree in Nursing with a certification in Nurse Midwifery Georgetown University. She worked at several Army Medical facilities before connecting with Dr. Gurdian and Capital Women’s Care. She enjoys working with patients in the office, and does not provide hospital care or attend births. She and her husband enjoy gardening, home improvements and raising their 5 children.
Dr Emily Lesch is a proud native of the Bay Area in northern California. She graduated with honor from the University of California at Davis with a major in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior and then spent a year working in a lab in Oakland studying iron supplementation in pregnancy. She then attended Des Moines University in Iowa for medical school before completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Roanoke, Virginia. She enjoys all areas of her practice but has a particular specialty in high risk obstetrics and adolescent gynecology. Dr. Lesch is also a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has privileges at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and is thrilled to be a part of the Rockville community.
